Oil Derrick shakers glazed turquoise

49H Oil Derricks, turquoise glaze, 3/2 hole set. Identification of this set as Type 1 is controversial to be sure. The medium red clay is similar to the 1953 transitional clays and the early post-fire turquoise is the same as the 1951 turquoise. This glaze, however, was not available in 1953. And the plug depression is definitely Type 1 with the rounded edges. I have a fairly large group of turquoise shakers of different shapes from the early post-fire period made with this same clay and glaze. I do not yet have an explanation for the red clay in the early post-fire period.
